Today our WWTF project with title "Modelling and Design of Epitaxially Strained Nanoislands" in the framework of "Mathematics and ..." program unfortunately ends a bit before the expected time because of a change of affiliation. It has been an intense and productive journey. Ulrike and Paolo thanks WWTF for the grant support and their great professionalism!

The workshop organized at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan with title "Surface patterns and instabilities: From (bio)mechanics to mathematics and viceversa" co-organized by Patrick Dondl, Irene Fonseca, and Paolo Piovano is at the moment unfortunately cancelled because of the pandemic and OIST budget time restrictions. We will keep you updated of any news in this regard!

Today Paolo Piovano starts a visiting professorship at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), Japan in the framework of the "OIST Visiting Professor in Pure Mathematics". The visit will start remotely due to the pandemic, and include the support for the organization of an OIST mini-symposium with title "Surface patterns and instabilities: From (bio)mechanics to mathematics and viceversa" co-organized by Patrick Dondl, Irene Fonseca, and Paolo Piovano.

Ulrike Diebold and Paolo Piovano were invited to present the MODENA project at the online event "Die Stunde der Philantropie", which included the contributions from the President of Austria Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen and the WWTF president Dr. Michael Häupl, and was organized by UniCredit Bank Austria, WWTF, and Verband für gemeinnütziges Stiften. Today Paolo Piovano was awarded as principal investigator one of the grants in the new call from the Austrian Research Fund (FWF) 1000 Ideas Programme with title MAthematical Modeling of BOne engineering (MAMBOing)! A new postdoc call in the framework of this project is therefore planned.

Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the related travel restrictions, the current impossibility of hosting a conference at the University of Vienna, and the upcoming deadline for using the fundings the workshop with title Free Boundary Problems and related Evolution Equations , co-organized by Giovanni Bellettini, Shohruh Kholmatov, and Paolo Piovano for September 7-9, 2020 is cancelled. We applied for further funding, which is currenttly under evaluation. We will keep you updated! Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe!

Today Paolo Piovano from the austrian side and Igor Velčić from the croatian side have been awarded as co-principal investigators one of the WTZ grants in the framework of the Scientific & Technological Cooperation between Austria and Croatia from the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD) for the project with title "Variational Multiscale Models for Materials"! Looking forward the visits!
